Timelord Rock!

Church knows. He knows I've go them 10th Doctor blues.

With David Tennant, the 10th 11th 10th and 11th Doctor, off being all Shakespearean for the time being, we Who-heads are left with hole in our lives where season 5 should be. But Church was quick to point me in the direction of one motivated fan who's helping us all bridge the gap between a Who-less present and that glorious future with Trock.

Timelord rock was conceived by YouTuber Nerimon, and is, in the style of WRock, tailored specifically toward rabid fans of the franchise. His band Chameleon Circuit has launched (what I, at least, hope to be) the Trock revolution with a pair of tracks, the first of which can be viewed/heard below.

When you're done with it, be sure to check out the video responses. Then pick up a guitar and write me a song about Frema Agyeman. Please.

Huh. So you're a Martha lover..

(I haven't gotten that far yet, but I sense it's a deep, deep divide in fandom...)

The nerdfighters strike again. Are we seeing the rise of the My Pants community as a not so secret society which manipulates geek culture to their own whims?

I think we need our own conspiracy theory, and they seem to be the best candidate for Illuminati style organization. So there we go, the nerdfighters have already taken over WRock, I've got a feeling their pretty heavily involve with Twi-Rock and now they have TRock. They are obviously up to something. Let's see how far we can take it.

HEY I JUST INVENTED A GENRE ITS WHERE I WRITE METAL SONGS SOLELY ABOUT MARIO BROTHERS 3 ILL CALL IT SMB3METAL

OH LOOK HOW COOL I AM I JUST INVENTED A NEW GENRE

:-P

Seriously that's how it sounds to me. The music is awesome, but this nitpicky genre stuff has got to stop.

soc, stop being a killjoy. The kids are having fun, what's the harm in that?

Of course, given the fact that 99% of nerdcore is about like 5 things being rehashed over and over and over again, may be the nerdcore artists should be taking notes.

Well, there's something to be said for calling every new subject a genre is problematic, but yeah, just keep making nerdy music kids, and call it whatever you want..

Ok, no more of me mocking those in the fiction-based rock community (as I shall henceforth call it).

But I'm gonna go with what church said on this:

"just keep making nerdy music kids, and call it whatever you want"

It's just downright quotable.

Why is it no one seems to have noticed that Freema Agyeman also appeared as another character at Torchwood in the Army of Ghosts DocWho episode where she gets taken over by the Cybermen?

It's a little too coincidental not to be pointed out.

I'd estimate that about 90% of what we call nerdcore, geek rock, WRock, Trock, and VGM is essentially… wait for it… filk.

Yep. The truth is a bitch. ;)

And how the hell did I miss that, Denika?! I tend to spend a lot of time looking at Freema! :)

Thanks Z, now I can breathe easier at night, knowing there is a giant umbrella genre keeping these otherwise-rain-soaked-wannabe-genres dry.

Filk.

Doesn't have a very catchy ring to it though.
