O(D)MG

Last week chiptuner Stenobot (of Supercommuter and Sink or Swim fame) shared a picture of his recently modded DMG. As both a collector of antiquated handhelds and a fan of minimalist electronica I was really interested to see what exactly Andy had done to his childhood gaming system. And now, upon watching the full video breakdown, I have become convinced that sorcery was involved.

Peep the magic:

Custom dye-job, variable backlight, on-the-fly pitch modulation, low battery indicator, internal Prosound – yeah, this thing is pretty pimp. But I think we can all agree that Julian was the brains behind the operation. ;)

Yeah that is a pretty sick gameboy mod. I wonder if he will use it at the Supercommuter gig on the 11th.

That is very cool!

Was actually wondering the same thing, AB.

Yeah, it's pretty sick, Jimi. Makes me realize how totally un-handy I am too. ;)

I am now even happier that I purchased a physical copy of Sink or Swim seeing how awesomely happy those two are!

It's weird, Doug, but because of how personal that album was I realized about half-way through that vid that I actually felt like I *knew* Andy and Julian. The power of music, my friends.

Thanks you guys, sincerely. Julian is such an amazing and funny kid, and I'm so glad to get to share his joy with the world. My favorite part in the video is when I mention that he bumped my arm while soldering--if you look closely, he starts bumping me with his elbow over and over again after I said that :)

Anyway...yes, unless there is a technical malfunction, I will be using this Game Boy @ the Supercommuter show friday.
