There are
older and
more resilient memes, but surely there is no more elegant a meme than the
Rickroll. My own favorite variation on this harmless prank/Web phenomenon is the
live Rickroll, a gag that strikes a perfect balance between practical joke and performance art.
At this year’s
Notacon,
Dual Core’s int eighty Rickrolled an entire room full of coders, hackers, and nerdcore fans. It was a risky move, but he’s no stranger to love.

CSHC and ProjectZero did a live rickroll at the last Gainesville show.

I remember the YTroll, but I'm thrilled to hear CSHC and PZ continued this proud tradition! ;)
Increasingly I feel like I'm the only person on the planet who thinks the Rickroll is played out and boring now. It was funny like a year and change ago, but really, it's just old now. At least duckrolling was weird as well as funny. I mean, it's gotten to the point where "Rickroll" has lost all meaning and now is just a generic verb for "to play 'Never Gonna Give You Up'".
