Y'all know I tend to abhor drama, but I just received this track from grimROCK with instructions to "spread it like a disease." Consider yourselves infected.
sucks that mc chipmunk has decided that nerdcore is all his AND he's too good for it. Fuck him, i'm glad he's not coming to San Francisco.
Frontalot, MC Lars and Optimus Rhyme was -the best- fucking show I've seen in 2007. Why? Because they're real groups who actually have real people in them. Bands. Music. Good stuff.
MC Chris has an ibook and someone who presses play. Wow. Real engaging.
What a load of fuck. I like Optimus Rhyme, but this is just butthurt faggotry. mc chris doesn't want to be associated with you or your movement? Cry moar.
Also "we never sit around thinking about you"? lulz. SPOILERS: You wrote a four-minute song about him. That counts. And that bit about mc not smoking with his fans after shows? Biggest bunch of bullshit ever. I've smoked with him three times, so you awesome folks who clearly know more about what he does with his fans than the fans can just step off.
And you know what? I can guarantee that mc is going to be the big man in this situation, and won't write a retaliation song. This is exactly why he doesn't want to be associated with nerdcore, because of all the arbitrary bullshit in it.
Could you guys possibly complain about anything more inane than this? I really think you'd be hard pressed to try. It all boils down to "BAWWWWWWWWW MC CHRIS DOESN'T LIKE ME." You cry more than furries, which is an accomplishment deserving of some sort of medal.
A quick look at the lyrics (http://nerdcore.info/index.php/2007/10/26/some-songs-write-themselves-%e2%80%a6current-mood-chipper/)and some info from fellow PacNW artists and fans, leads me to believe the track was written well before mc’s split with nerdcore. I think this particular diss has actually been brewing since Optimus mysteriously disappeared from the opening slot on mc’s last Seattle gig. I’ve surmised – both from the lyrics and from talk around the water cooler – that there was more going on there than we as fans knew. Specifically, Wheelie and Co. seem to be under the impression that, after they and chris parted ways following their last meeting all smiles and rainbows, mc later decided he really disliked the guys and their music. I don’t know how much truth there is to this, but OR seem pretty sure of it.
I also know that around the same time, mc and DJ Chubby Cheeks, who were friends, also had a falling out. Whether this is related or simply coincidental is anybody’s guess, and I, honestly, don’t plan to go digging into what is a private matter between two individuals as opposed to a public matter between two artists.
I know that I’m in an obvious minority, but I really don’t care whether mc chris is “nerdcore” or not. I supported his music before he made peace with the scene and I plan to continue to do so unless he’d rather I didn’t. I imagine that a lot of artists are more upset with his jab at their musical merit – particularly after his compliments regarding several of them in recent months – than his eschewing the arbitrary classification of nerdcore. I don’t necessarily agree with the way he proceeded with his renewed split from nerdcore, and, perhaps, I would have chosen my words more carefully had I been him, but the truth is I’m not and he’s entitled both to his opinion and to his manner of expressing it.
I don’t have to agree with an artist all the time and on every issue to enjoy their music. Shit, I don’t even have to like them as people to appreciate their talent. I also don’t mind supporting artists who don’t care for each other; I’ve done it with Beefy and the Rhyme Torrents community, with MC Router and Nursehella (before they made amends), and with countless other diametrically opposed forces.
True, I generally make a concerted effort not to promote diss tracks, as I’m not overly fond of the concept. But, at least as far as hip-hop is concerned, beef is a fact of life. I presented this song because I thought it was a great track and because I was encouraged to by the artist. I certainly don’t support any related flaming in mc’s BBS any more than I do critics flaming in the Rhyme Torrents BBS. This is a matter between two artists that fans can either support or ignore, and I don’t think either decision makes you any less of a fan.

I love this, one of my favorite songs now.
This is genius, and Optimus Rhyme have once again come out as winners.
What's awesome is that a well respected nerdcore act such as Optimus Rhyme is the first one to retaliate against chris' choice words.
Not to mention the song is pure awesome.
I just have this on continuous loop. Currently at about a dozen repeats. OR FTW!
wheelie fucking kills all
this song is full of win
anyone writing diss songs should just drop their pen now. it can't be done better than this frankly.
Nice track!! Optimus Rhyme does it again!!!
Yeah, Wheelie and Co. brought the fierceness. If all diss tracks were this good I can't help but think I wouldn't mind them so much. ;)
Absolutely brilliant. I don't think this beef should be mc vs. nerdcore but more the world vs. one of the biggest hypocrits in musical history.
I knew shit was brewing when I heard Optimus Rhyme was cancelled as mc's opening act in Seattle.
keep the diss tracks a' comin.
Dang, why do I always miss out on all the good drama...
...this is the single best diss song I have heard nerdcore produce thus far. Kudos, Optimus Rhyme.
Yeah, Cheeks, I think Seattle was a portent of things to come.
Don't worry, Soc, I'm sure there's till plenty of drama to go around.
Yeah, Inadequate, it's pretty much made of win and vitriol.

Grow up.
